I’m a twenty-something wedding photographer in Texas who photographs couples who are ready to celebrate their marriage. Building my business has been one hell of a ride, so grab a cup of coffee (or some wine - no judgement here) and join me for my life behind the lens.
This little dream started with my first gig – my mom’s wedding reception. I had my itty bitty Nikon D3200 and a 50mm f1.8 – it was go time. I will never forget the moment that I realized I could actually do this. I was sitting on the airplane on the way home from my mom’s wedding editing photos. The lady next to me leaned over and asked me how long I had been a wedding photographer. I melted in my seat. Thank you stranger, you gave me the exactly what I needed.
That experience eventually led to photographing some seniors.
And then some bribing of friends to jump into some bluebonnets on the side of the freeway.
More opportunities came from all over the state, some of them even from some fellow Red Raiders in Lubbock.
Thank you Shelbi for running back asking for “one more photo”. This is my favorite photo I have ever taken.
Then there were some celebrations…
and surprises…
…big surprises.
Then something big happened. Ragan and Sarah came into my life and changed everything. They took me under their wing and taught me how to be the best photographer I could be.
Annnnddd they might have switched me over to Canon… and helped me become an equipment junkie.
A few months later, I was blessed with a community of creatives. The Rising Tide Society was a game changer – I was suddenly surrounded by incredible creatives who keep encouraging me to keep going. Some wonderful friends came from that community. Thank you to Breanna, Andi, Erica, Kelsea, Kendall for being an awesome part of my life!
I eventually had some families and kiddos in front of my lens.
and some people at work found out I was a photographer.
Some great friends experienced huge milestones – engagements, weddings and buying their first home.
I even had the opportunity to experience a few styled shoots.
I met incredible people,
and I’m thankful that they chose me to capture a special moment in time.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to friends, family, mentors and strangers who have supported this little dream of mine.
It’s been one hell of an adventure. Here’s to 2016.
