I’m a twenty-something wedding photographer in Texas who photographs couples who are ready to celebrate their marriage. Building my business has been one hell of a ride, so grab a cup of coffee (or some wine - no judgement here) and join me for my life behind the lens.
I have a confession to make.
I’ll be the first to admit that I love to shop, especially when there’s a good deal or I have a good coupon in my hands. But last month, I splurged. I spent $200 on a pair of ballet flats…
And I don’t regret it. Not one bit.
I first heard of Tieks while browsing on Instagram. These colorful, Italian leather flats with blue soles were worn by women all over the world and I wanted to know what was so special about these ballet flats. Upon first glance, I was in sticker shock, who in their right mind would pay $200 for ballet flats?! Ballet flats aren’t even that comfortable! I was intrigued, so I started doing some research.
I read review after review and I didn’t find anything negative about these shoes. Comments ranged from their impeccable quality to the comfort level so great, even nurses and teachers wear them. At this point, I caved. After a good hour of trying to decide what color I wanted, I purchased these magical shoes in Matte Black.
I might have stalked the UPS man the day I was expecting my magical shoes. I was so excited when I received the anticipated knock on my door. Whoever said the best gifts come in a blue box from Tiffany’s was wrong… The best gifts come in a blue box from Tieks.
So I put on the magical shoes and I walked around my apartment and then on to the airport for a business trip. The shoes were comfortable, but they didn’t feel out-of-the-ordinary comfortable. Within a few hours, I even had a blister on the top of my foot where the top of the shoe sits. Really disappointed, I jumped back on the Google bandwagon and searched “Breaking in new Tieks”. I quickly learned that some women had an issue in the exact spot I did, but to not give up hope! Give it a few days and it will be perfect.
So I sucked it up and put a bandaid on and went on my way.
After about 3 days of wearing my Tieks, I was sold. Not only did the rubbing go away, but the sole of the shoe started to mold to my feet. I wear these almost every day of the week now, and my feet feel great even after a long day on my feet. One of my favorite characteristics of these flats is the elastic like opening that keeps the shoe snug to my foot. Now, when I walk or cross my legs while sitting, my flats no longer pop off at the heel. You don’t realize how annoying it really is until it doesn’t happen anymore. The quality of the shoe is incredible, and the leather is gorgeous. Overall, an excellent purchase.
So, the final verdict.
Are they worth it? Yes.
Will I be buying another pair? Yes, when I can decide what color I want next. (currently debating between the Cardinal Red, Rose Gold Glam and Nude – I’m a size 8 in case anyone wants to buy me a pair :] )
