I’m a twenty-something wedding photographer in Texas who photographs couples who are ready to celebrate their marriage. Building my business has been one hell of a ride, so grab a cup of coffee (or some wine - no judgement here) and join me for my life behind the lens.
Those who know me and my family know that cruising is our preferred method of vacation. You get days of sunshine, relaxation, great food and drinks, and plenty of time to party – all you have to do is make sure you get on the boat before it leaves! This year, we kicked off our summer with a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Breeze to celebrate the recent Texas Tech graduates in the family!
Our adventure started with the 13 of us – yes, 13 – making our way to Houston on Saturday to enjoy fajitas and margaritas with some friends before setting sail the next day.
Sunday morning, we made our way to Galveston to board our new home for the next week. We made it through security and passed the time in the terminal with coloring books and some laughs. We weren’t there too long though – these experienced cruisers are all about Faster to the Fun (seriously, it’s totally worth it if you are cruising with Carnival). We made our way on board, found a bartender, and grabbed lunch at the Wok since there was no line.
We set sail, cheered on the pilot boat, and said goodbye to the states from our balconies. We were officially in vacation mode.
Our first full day on the ship was a day at sea – my favorite. Theres something about seeing nothing but ocean and your phone not working. Andrew and I woke up early cuddled up in a clamshell to watch the sunrise over the ocean.
Most of the day was spent in this little cabana of mine reading Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes (guys, go read it. NOW). We enjoyed drinks, great food, and managed to get some pretty bad sunburns.
Our next three days were port days – Cozumel, Belieze, then Honduras. There was plenty of fun and adventures to go around.
We finished the final two days with fun days at sea. We enjoyed some casino games, dancing, bingo, and time at the pool.
Until next time, Carnival. We will meet again soon, hopefully on the Vista!
