I’m a twenty-something wedding photographer in Texas who photographs couples who are ready to celebrate their marriage. Building my business has been one hell of a ride, so grab a cup of coffee (or some wine - no judgement here) and join me for my life behind the lens.
If you’ve met my family before, you would know that they’re always ready to have a good time. A few weeks ago, my sister Jamie turned 21 and there was no way they were going to let that one pass without a celebration.
Jamie turned 21 in May, but was studying abroad in Brazil and Chilé on her actual birthday. My mom and her husband were already planning to stop in San Antonio, and she decided that she wanted to do something to celebrate Jamie’s birthday.
As mom’s wheels started to turn, more ideas started to flow in. It started with flying in Jamie’s life-long best friend, Alyssa, in for the party. Then it grew to flying in Dad, Grandma and Papa too. Oh and of course, we will have her boyfriend and his family there too. The plan grew, and grew and grew.
Everyone made it a whole 3 weeks without blowing the surprise. Finally, 12 people were hidden in my one bedroom apartment, we were ready.
Success.
The night continued with food, cake, and plenty of drinks to go around. We taught our Grandparents the art of flip-cup and our Dad went undefeated in beer pong. It was a successful 21st birthday celebration.
Our weekend was short, but our time with our family and friends was perfect. Thank you everyone for making this such a special surprise for Jamie!
