I’m a twenty-something wedding photographer in Texas who photographs couples who are ready to celebrate their marriage. Building my business has been one hell of a ride, so grab a cup of coffee (or some wine - no judgement here) and join me for my life behind the lens.
You know those friends that you have known forever? The ones that you have spent countless birthday parties with, sleepovers, hours of playing school and dress up with… Cami and her sister Rachel were those friends for my sister Jamie and I. It doesn’t matter how long we’ve been apart, when we are reunited, it was like the few years in between our visits never even happened.
Last year as I was just starting to dabble in the wedding world, I got an email from Cami. She was starting to plan her own wedding day, and she asked if I she could hire me to be her photographer. All at the same time, I was ecstatic and terrified. I had worked maybe two weddings as a second shooter, and at that point, I wasn’t even sure if I was going to offer wedding photography. Something about this just felt right though, like I needed to do this. So I got a little pep talk from my fiancé and I wrote her back – “YES!”.
Fast forward to 9 months later – My friend and second shooter, Breanna, Jamie and I left my apartment at 3:30AM to catch a 5AM flight from San Antonio to St. Louis, MO. We were welcomed to St. Louis with a downpour at 7AM, and after hiding in our car for a little bit, we finally made our way to the hotel. Unlike most weddings that I photograph, I knew a TON of the guests that were in town for Cami and Jimmy’s wedding. To keep a long story short – there was not a dull moment all weekend.
We started the big day with Cami as she got ready to marry the man of her dreams. Her and her bridesmaids got ready in a room at the Sheraton Westport Chalet, which seemed like a little slice of Europe that was hidden in Missouri. The girls primped, sang some Fergie, and of course, celebrated with a few drinks. Even though we were fearful for a rain filled day, the weather turned out to be perfect.
Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Cami and Jimmy said “I do” in the gorgeous New Town Chapel. The reception tent was decorated with stunning white hydrangeas, navy accents, and little touches that made the room unique to the newlyweds. There was plenty of dancing and drinks, great food, and even better company. While beautiful decor makes beautiful photos, the best photos come from a bride and groom who are head over heels in love with each other and guests who are having the time of their lives. That was exactly what we got at #HeimosPartyOf2.
Cami & Jimmy, I cannot thank you enough for believing in me and asking me to be a part of your wedding. It was such an honor to document your day.
